Superlattice Power, Inc. (OTCBB: SLAT) shares surged more than 21 percent today to $0.23, after the Company announced it had completed the design of fast charge lithium ion battery pack in order to qualify the Company for EV Innovations Inc.’s (OTCBB: EVII) LiV(TM) series electric vehicles, with the first prototypes to be developed and delivered by the end of November.
Superlattice, based out of North Carolina, is focused on designing lithium ion batteries for use in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles; and, in conjunction with EV Innovations, Inc. LiV series of electric vehicles, Superlattice has developed an ample battery pack system demonstrated in more than ten vehicles for as much as 2000 miles each.
Until recently, the battery packs used in these vehicles were designed for a lower-than 0.5C charging rate, in contrast with the new design, which is capable of handling more than 2.5C rates and charging the battery pack to 80 percent capacity in less than 30 minutes.
Additionally, beyond the design completion for the new battery packs, Superlattice is also focusing on optimizing the capacity and miles per fast charge within the battery system. Superlatticeās research team is concentrating on the design and development of lithium ion electrode materials and cells as well as focusing on second generation Battery Management System.
